Associate Degree in Nursing

  • The Del Mar College Registered Nurse Education Program is accredited by The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097, (404)679-4501; The Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas; and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, 61 Broadway, 33rd Floor, New York, NY 10006, (212) 363-5555.
  • Associate degree nursing programs are offered in community/junior/technical colleges making it more accessible to a diverse population. Programs are a minimum of 2 years of coursework.
  • An Associate degree in nursing (ADN) provides a pathway for entry into registered nurse(RN) practice.
  • The ADN meets the educational requirements for eligibility to take the NCLEX-RN for the Registered Nurse license.
  • ADN graduates are prepared to provide nursing care to or coordinate care for a limited number of clients in a variety of health care settings.
  • Graduates of ADN programs possess a core of nursing knowledge common to all nursing education routes.
  • ADN graduates can choose to continue their education (RN to BSN, RN to MSN) in order to prepare for expanded roles.
