- Associate degree nursing programs are offered
in community/junior/technical colleges making it more accessible to
a diverse population. Programs are a minimum of 2 years of coursework.
- An Associate degree in nursing (ADN) provides
a pathway for entry into registered nurse(RN) practice.
- The ADN meets the educational requirements for
eligibility to take the NCLEX-RN for the Registered Nurse license.
- ADN graduates are prepared to provide nursing
care to or coordinate care for a limited number of clients in a variety
of health care settings.
- Graduates of ADN programs possess a core of
nursing knowledge common to all nursing education routes.
- ADN graduates can choose to continue their
education (RN to BSN, RN to MSN) in order to prepare for expanded roles.
